I take a lot of pictures from the lobster boat, and sometimes I worry that it looks like all we do out there is goof around and enjoy the scenery.
The reality is, for 10-12 hours (occasionally more) we’re busting our humps just to make a decent days pay, but that doesn’t stop me from having a little fun when I can fit it in.
My favorite game is to save up a bucket of rotten bait and chuck it off the stern of the boat as we enter Portland harbor at the end of the day. Usually one or two seagulls will appear almost immediately, then within minutes hundreds of them will fly in from all points in the harbor, dive bombing gracefully and fighting over the foul smelling fish viciously.
The other day, I finally decided to videotape myself doing it. The camera work is a bit shoddy, but it’s a pretty cool scene.
